Badulla and Ella are popular tourist destinations in Sri Lanka, especially Ella's popular travel  places in the world. Badulla  is a district in the uva province of Sri Lanka and the town of Ella is also located in the Badulla district. Ella town is governed by a city council. The city of Badulla is located at an altitude of 680 M above sea level. Ella is located at an elevation of 1041 m above sea level. The  city of Badulla is adorned with beautiful tea estates and mountains around the city.

To ancient history information of Badulla city, The city of Badulla was ruled by Sinhala kings before Sri Lanka was colonized. After the Kandyan Kingdom conquered Britain, Badulla became a center of British rule. The plantation industry started by the British spread to Kandy, Badulla, and other upcountry areas. With the main purpose of transporting those plantation crop products, The Kandyan Railway System was constructed. The city of Badulla is the end of tha Kandyan railway road system.

Badulla and Ella are tourist hotspots. As tourist destinations in and around Badulla, Mutiyangana rajamaha viharaya temple, Dunhida waterfall, Dowa Ancient Temple, Bogoda ancient temple, and Badulla tea plantation.
Muthiyangana Royal temple is a Buddhist shrine of ancient significance. When the Buddha visited Kelaniya in Sri Lanka, At the invitation of Lord Indika, the ruler of Badulla Namunukula The Buddha has come to Muthiyangana. the Muthiyangana Rajamaha Viharaya is a short distance of 750 meters from the Badulla bus stand.
Dunhinda waterfalls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Sri Lanka located in Badulla. Dunhinda Falls is a beautiful and interesting  sight. Dunhinda Falls consists of two waterfalls, Kuda Dunhinda and Dunhinda. Dunhinda Falls is about 210 feet high. The distance from Badulla town to the entrance of the road to Dunhinda waterfall is about 5 km.

Horton Plains and Knuckles Mountains are just a few miles away from Badulla. For tourists mainly visiting Badulla and Ella tourist destinations, Nuwara Eliya Horton Plains Knuckles Hill Tourist Attractions can add to a tourist destination.

Ravana Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in the Ella area. Ravana water Falls is about 25 meters high. also, Various histories and legends are associated with Ravana water Falls.

Roads to Badulla and Ella

Tourists visiting Badulla can mainly reach Badulla by three methods. By train, by public buses, and By taxi or private vehicle at will. Tourists traveling from Colombo to Badulla can board the direct train to Badulla from the Colombo Fort Railway Station. Ella  town also is reached by train.

Tourists arriving in Badulla by public transport buses, Badulla-Colombo buses are available from the Colombo fort bus stand. For tourists from Galle to Badulla, Badulla can be reached by road via Haliela, Matara, Hambantota, and Demodara.
Buses from Colombo  to Badulla are also available from Pelmadulla. Because the Colombo-Badulla road goes through Bandarawela, Haputale, Balangoda, and Pelmadulla.
In addition, Badulla can be reached by public buses from Kandy and Nuwara Eliya.
